Updated EBMC-wide policy/guidance for stationary meditation periods from the Every Body Every Mind sangha.

For silent stationary meditation periods, we’ll start out with light guidance by the teacher, the teacher will give light guidance midway through, and also say a few words to announce the ending of the meditation practice period. If the teacher wishes to give a guided meditation, they may do so.

From the Every Body Every Mind sangha:

“We realize that we cannot meet everyone’s needs perfectly all the time. The reason we are advocating this policy is because people with ADD and people with suicidal ideation or people with other challenging circumstances may benefit during a mostly silent meditation period from hearing an occasional human voice as a way of grounding. This policy would not apply to EBMC’s few events for Committed Practitioners, where it is directly specified that the only people who may attend are those with established meditation practices, who are OK with silent meditation sessions and who need no instructions.”
